The Economics of Love

I used to really dig my economics classes in college. The logic and theory behind it can be applicable in so many aspects of your life; not just as a business owner or investor. It's not completely boring! On the other hand, there is this thing called love. A topic that been a favorite discussion of mine to share with folks with some good chai. The ritual of falling in it, living it, and sadly, falling out of it. Everyone goes through it.

Well, what happens when you approach love with some economics? You get a very interesting article written by the infamous Ben Stein. So if you're in the neighborhood of love, looking for it, in it, out of it, whatever...Take a few minutes to check out this cool short article in the New York Times about some simple and valuable lessons in love. Economically speaking :)

If investing in a relationship is directly proportional to its growth, then in your opinion at what point does one decide enough is enough and its time to give up on a specific stock /investment /relationship? Do you think sometimes its too easy to explain the inexplicable? Sometimes things just dont work out because theyre not meant to be. Why do we always need a reason to justify what did or didnt happen? When we try and explain we're only attempting to justify our actions to ourselves and basically pacifying or masking the need to perhaps realize we're not worthy or might need to change some things about ourselves.

For what its worth, I dont believe that anyone falls out of love. I believe the initial attraction or reason for interest in someone was too weak to withstand the demand and responsibilties that come with progressing to the next level. Like, people who "fall in love" solely based on superficial reasons. If you don't have the capacity to accept love, then it will continue to escape you.

...but you're right: this is a chai-worthy topic.
